One of Solar To Benefit Africa’s main purposes is to authorize medium and big size photovoltaic plants, both on land and roofs of sheds, that may help the medium and large companies to reduce the costs of energy purchase.
Since its inception, Solar to Benefit Africa has entered into cooperation with selected South African specialist environmental consulting companies, established for the purpose of providing a holistic environmental management, including Basic Assessments, Full Impact Assessments and environmental compliance monitoring.

For instance Solar to Benefit Africa has already fully authorized a photovoltaic project, named Machadodorp1, with these characteristics:

  • Land Extension: 20ha;
  • CC Nominal Power: 13,14 MW;
  • AC Power for grid: 10 MW;
  • EIA: Basic Assessment;
  • Fully Authorised on May 2013;

…further, several potential landscapes for other projects have been investigated.

We can count on the localization and check/review of about 20 High Voltage Substation and about 2.500ha of potential land, for total potential photovoltaic fields of about 520MW.
